Arctica Sponsored Project
Concept Development, Motion, Live Action, Photography, Type design
The Arctica project seeks to visualize the POV of the script written for the original novel Protocol 7, by designer, author, and sponsor of the project, Armen Gharabegian. The goal was to take the point of view of an alien artificial intelligence, give it a cinematic look that is digestible for human consumption while showing the quite possibly chaotic lens of reality that an artificial intelligence may perceive our world. Collaborated with Felix Soletic, Kevin Alexander, and Bryce Doerksen.
Helix Typeface
Concept Development, Type design, Monospaced, Alien, Artificial Intelligence
The objective was to create an alphanumeric typeface that could be used as the language of the artificial intelligence. If an artificial intelligence could ponder its own existence and reorganize its own functions, why wouldn’t it design it’s own form of language. We took inspiration from the character styles and the organization of writing from Asian languages as well as ancient languages such as Egyptian, Sanskrit, and Mayan.

Panoramic View
Concept Development, Panoramic View, Multiple Point of View, Raw Data
The panoramic viewpoint was explored as a method of showing how an artificial intelligence could see multiple viewpoints simultaneously. These beings could essentially probe reality by the molecules around everything, making them an omnipresence. While thinking about how that POV could be viewed cinematically, we looked to Picasso and Escher in ways to seamlessly combine multiple camera views.
UI
Concept Development, 2D, Multiple Point of View, Raw Data,
The UI was meant to be as minimal and unobtrusive as possible from the film. The gentle reminder an artificial intelligence is taking you through the film. We wanted to give the viewer the idea that the artificial intelligence gently touched its way through the molecules around a scene, picking up information as it moves.
